EuroPACE is a trans-European network of universities and their partners in education and training, i.e. private enterprises, regional and professional organisations and public authorities. Through the use of different models EuroPACE demonstrates and develops the potential of telematics for the European University of the future and thus contributes materially to the realisation of the concept of lifelong learning.

This site contains a complete section on distance education and related technologies. It also contains a set of useful links to distance education resources, related journals, distance education institutions and associations, related projects and conferences. The University of Plymouth is investigating the use of information and communication technology for distance learning. Students may link electronically with each other, share information, collaborate and generally communicate from wherever they are.

In this project participate 18 Universities and 14 Vocational Training Institutions in Greece having as coordinator the University of Athens. Its aim is to give access to local academic networks to advanced teleworking services. Consequently all the Institutions in Greece will be given the possibility of interconnection, as well as of communication and collaboration via the Internet.

Telemachos II continues the work accomplished by Telemachos I, and further aims at networking approximately 70  small and isolated high schools in Greece by installing in each of the participating schools a multimedia distance learning environment. This school network gives the possibility to schools to collaborate at national and international level, to communicate their interests and activities, to search and collect information, and to participate in distance learning courses.

Project of on-line training promoted by CITAM of the University in Bologna: piloting initiatives of ODL methods and procedures for Science of Antiquity. It also comprises Moneta and Telemanco projects.

The Open Learning Foundation (OLF) (formerly the Open Polytechnic) was established by over twenty new universities (formerly polytechnics) to enable them to meet the growing demand for higher education. It supports its members in the development of materials, provision of guidance on new approaches to teaching and learning, and the sharing of expertise in open learning.

The aim of the CLEAR project is the utilisation of Open Distance Learning methods in enhancing the knowledge and skills of teachers in the use of fine arts, theatre and drama in the sensitive levels of education regardless of the educational subject matter and provide a pedagogical framework (including managerial and technical issues) to ODL providers, educational providers, teachers on how to create their own ODL material.

The website informs, brings sensitivity, and shares opinions on the problems of the FAD (technical and technological environment, progression in the teachers' profession and accessibility to resources ). It demonstrates how to have access to an on-line campus .

The "Young Researchers in Action" project aims at the development and application of a pedagogical framework in the field of meteorology, suitable for ODL's implementation to pupils aged 10-13 and in parallel to the provision of in service training to teachers in the field of ODL.

The objectives are to create ODL-literate school communities where both teachers and students are effective users of computer tools and practices, to improve the quality of existing learning environments, to develop new tools for the construction of mathematics, geography and music computerised micro-worlds, to apply the use of new technologies in the curriculum and to evaluate the learning/teaching processes emerging from the application of these learning environments.

The project aims at promoting the analysis of the tele-education experiences implemented at a European level. The analysis focuses on the different technological performances, the various methodological processes which have been developed and analysis of available technologies and tools for tele-education

The objectives are to develop IT training methods and guidelines for teachers at the European level which emphasize the educational rather than technological issues teachers need to understand, to establish an IT-information service for teachers and students on the Internet and to run a pilot demonstration project .

ManageLearn involves the creation of a selective bibliography and literature review on ODL aimed at conventional higher education institutions. An additional, linked activity is the development of a management tool intended to assist policy and decision makers in pedagogical and managerial issues concerning the use of multimedia telematics for ODL.
