Methodological and Operational Guidelines for Supporting Learning Autonomy in Online Paths
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The increasing integration of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) within the different training procedures could lead to the isolation of those individuals considered as non self-sufficient. The question is: is autonomy a prerequisite, and if so, are training paths only suitable to some profiles?
Before giving any stereotyped answer, maybe we should focus on the self-sufficiency/autonomy concept in the field of the teaching action. The use of ICT for developing training/learning methods changes our ways of working and techniques.
While computers, databases, high-tech development and broadband Internet access are increasing, we understand more and more the challenge of training individuals, of having them enjoy the learning programmes and develop life-long learning.
This will emerge from a complex structure based on both environmental and methodological components developed and monitored by the teaching team.
